The Blaenau Gwent Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) is a statutory partnership which facilitates working between Gwent Police, the Local Authority, Probation Service, Youth Offending Team, Local Health Board and the NHS Trust to ensure the welfare of all children & young people. The LSCB also seeks to work with all partners that work with children and young people such as voluntary sector organisations.

The LSCB believe it is the duty of all our partners to be aware of the importance of protecting children & young people, and ensuring their welfare.

Regardless of your position within your organisation you need to be diligent when dealing with children & young people, and to be mindful of any causes of concern relating to their welfare.

To assist with this process the LSCB have developed a safeguarding card containing general information on what to do if you believe a child’s safety is compromised. It also contains the phone numbers of agencies that should be contacted to raise concerns.

WE STRONGLY ADVISE THAT ALL PARTNERS CARRY THESE CARDS AT ALL TIMES. The leaflet has been designed to fold into a credit card sized shape so that they can be fitted into people’s purses and wallets.

We realise that not all partners will come into contact with children & young people during the course of a working day, but safeguarding should not start and finish at work. It is the responsibility of us all as “Good Citizens” to report and act if we believe the safety of children and young people is compromised.
